Price, $10.This rare material comes from a limited source in the northwest Nevada desert miles from the nearest town! It was used by Clovis people when the basin was a garden of Eden and when the area turned to desert the deep mining of the material stopped and later Indians just picked up what was left on the ground as they passed through. Long forgotten this unique material was rediscovered a few years ago and a mining claim was filed on it. Archeological digs were conducted by Dr. R. M. Gramly, I did the workability analysis and was listed as one of the co-authors when Gramly published the report in the Central States Archaeological Journal, Vol. 68, 2021, no. 1. Afterward, I maintained contact with the mine claimant and at present I am the only knapper receiving small amounts of this material in trade for a few points made from it. Those which I don't keep for my personal collection may go on this site from time to time. Even after cooking this stuff is difficult to work and does not come in real big pieces, therefore, the points are small and relatively expensive for their size.
